Why
Jack Nokes?
- Mr. Nokes has been Executive Director of TAM for 5 years. Prior to
that he served as Director of Administration of Laguna Gloria Art Museum
(now Austin Museum of Art) for 11 years.
- Mr. Nokes served as a principal participant in Uniquely Texas: A Lone
Star Look at Cultural and Heritage Tourism from concept to funding to
production and distribution. He is also a member of the Texas Cultural
Tourism Task Force.
- Mr. Nokes serves as the Chair of the National Conference of State
Museum Association and has given numerous talks on museum practice and
issues at state and national
museum conferences.
What
is the Texas Association of Museums?
A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established for educational
purposes, the Texas Association of Museums represents over 260 museums
and 600 individuals throughout Texas and across the nation. The largest
state museum association in the nation, TAM provides a network among museums,
improves the level of professionalism within the museum community, increases
the use and enjoyment of museums by the public, and serves as an information
clearinghouse about museums.
