Contact the Texas Historical Commission regarding information
on the development and promotion of Uniquely Texas, Texas Historical Commission
(THC) travel guides, THC heritage tourism initiatives and the THC web
site - www.thc.state.tx.us
- featuring information about heritage tourism as well as general information
about the agency.
Why
the Texas Historical Commission?
- Staff members from the THC were intimately involved with all aspects
of creating and promoting the Uniquely Texas video. The agency's expertise
in the Texas Main Street Program, the Texas Travel Trails Regional Program
and the Los Caminos del Rio region of Texas (highlighted in the video)
was of paramount importance during the video's development.
- The THC has created travel guides and heritage tourism programs to
assist cultural and heritage tourists in maximizing their vacation experience.
- Staff archeologists, architects and historians are able to provide
unique views on Texas' rich heritage and the positive effects heritage
tourism has on historic preservation efforts.
- Monique Moffit is able to direct any questions about the Uniquely
Texas video project or the work of the Texas Historical Commission to
appropriate THC staff.
What
is the Texas Historical Commission?
The Texas Historical Commission
is the state agency for historic preservation. The agency administers
a variety of programs to preserve the archeological, historical and cultural
resources of Texas. Through the creation and promotion of heritage tourism
in Texas, the THC heightens awareness of the importance of historic preservation
while stimulating economic growth through tourism. This is accomplished
by partnering the preservation community with the tourism industry and
other key organizations at the local, state and national level and developing
tourism programs that preserve, protect and promote historic and cultural
resources.
