Fact Sheet OVERVIEW: Uniquely Texas is a video project highlighting cultural and heritage tourism in Texas. It is intended to educate viewers about the value and viability of this fast-growing segment of the tourism industry and teach methods to create successful cultural and heritage tourism programs and sites. This project is the first of its kind, and is expected to become a prototype in the travel industry. WHAT: Narrated by actor and native-Texan Barry Corbin, Uniquely Texas features two distinct segments. The first segment, titled "Uniquely Texas: A Lone Star Look at Cultural and Heritage Tourism," introduces viewers to the many opportunities available and inspires Texans to get involved in promoting their cultural and heritage tourism destinations. The second segment of the video, "Uniquely Texas: A Five Point Plan," provides a formula for success in creating and promoting cultural tourism sites. Together the two segments provide a thorough view of cultural and heritage tourism. WHY: Texas is one of the two most popular states in the country for cultural and heritage tourism. Cultural and heritage tourism is the fastest growing market in the travel industry worldwide. Cultural and heritage tourists spend more and stay longer than other travelers. Tourism is the third largest revenue-producing industry in the state of Texas. Cultural and heritage tourists want vacation experiences that bring them insight, enrichment and authenticity.
